A leading Cornwall manufacturer is marking National Apprenticeship Week 2026 by highlighting the role apprentices play in shaping its future workforce.

Spiral UK is celebrating National Apprenticeship Week, which runs from Monday 9th February to Sunday 15th February 2026. Now in its 19th year, the week is described as the UK’s largest annual celebration of apprenticeships and skills.

The annual campaign focuses on how apprenticeships help individuals build careers, support businesses in developing skilled teams, and contribute to economic growth by addressing skills gaps.

Supporting apprentices year after year

Spiral UK, which is headquartered in Helston, Cornwall, says it has welcomed at least one apprentice into the organisation each year for a number of years.

The company provides hands-on experience, mentorship and structured learning, with the aim of helping apprentices develop practical, work-ready skills.

Andrew Holland, CEO of Spiral UK, said:

“National Apprenticeship Week 2026 is an opportunity for us to celebrate the talent, dedication, and fresh perspectives our apprentices bring to our organisation. By investing in apprenticeships, we’re not only developing future skills but also creating meaningful career pathways that support individuals, businesses, and the wider economy.”

Managing Director Eric Nicholls added:

“Apprentices are the lifeblood of our business, and it is vital that we keep inspiring the workforce of the future and training them to be part of our highly skilled team.”

Long-term careers and valuable experience

Over the years, apprentices at Spiral UK have progressed in different ways. Some have gone on to build long-term careers within the company, while others have completed short-term placements that provided valuable experience.

National Apprenticeship Week also encourages employers, apprentices, training providers and communities to share success stories and demonstrate how apprenticeships can open doors to opportunity.

The wider picture across the UK

Figures from the Department for Education in October 2024 show continued satisfaction with apprenticeship programmes across the country:

  • 83% of employers report satisfaction with their apprenticeship programmes

  • 77% of employers say apprenticeships improve productivity

  • 86% of apprentices are satisfied with their apprenticeship

  • 88% of apprentices say their career prospects improved after starting

  • 94% of apprentices who complete their programme move into work or further training

  • Over 90% of learners are in apprenticeship providers rated good or outstanding by Ofsted

Statistics were provided by the UK Government National Apprenticeship Organisation.
