Two People Rescued After Being Cut Off By Tide Near Millendreath

Two people who found themselves cut off by the rising tide prompted an immediate lifeboat launch from RNLI Looe Lifeboat Station on Saturday 14th February 2026.

At 3.15pm, volunteer crew members were paged following a call for assistance received by Falmouth Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC). The pair had been walking along the beach from Seaton towards Millendreath when they became stranded by the tide.

Lifeboat Launched Within Minutes

Within six minutes of the alert, the charity’s D Class inshore lifeboat Ollie Naismith II launched with a crew of three on board. The crew made their way across Looe Bay towards Millendreath.

On arrival, they quickly located the two casualties, brought them onboard the lifeboat and transported them safely back to Millendreath beach. Members of Looe Coastguard Rescue Team were waiting on shore.

The two people were handed into the care of Looe CRT. The inshore lifeboat was then stood down by Falmouth MRCC and returned to station, where it was washed down and made ready for the next service call.

High Tide Warning

The incident happened around high tide and serves as a reminder to check tide times and remain aware of surroundings when walking along the coast.

In this case, the two people contacted the coastguard to request assistance and stayed on the beach rather than attempting to climb the cliffs. That decision prevented the situation from becoming more serious.

Polruan Coastguard were also tasked to the incident but were stood down while en route.
