New Atlantic 85 Lifeboat ‘Spirit of Daisy’ Arrives at Fowey

Fowey Lifeboat Station has welcomed a brand new Atlantic 85 lifeboat to its fleet.

On Tuesday 17 February, the Atlantic 85 ‘Spirit of Daisy’ arrived in Fowey, marking a significant moment for the station.

A New Arrival on the River Fowey

Named after the lifeboat donor’s mother, ‘Spirit of Daisy’ was delivered by trailer to Caffa Mill. She was then launched into the River Fowey before being taken to her new pontoon mooring, where she was made ready for service.

The arrival means a change for the station’s existing relief Atlantic 85. ‘James Dugdale’ has now departed Fowey and will go on to Portishead Lifeboat Station.

Official Naming Ceremony Planned

An official naming ceremony for ‘Spirit of Daisy’ is set to take place on Saturday 25 July at 3pm on Fowey Town Quay.

Invited guests, including the donor and his family, will attend to witness the lifeboat being formally named and handed over to Fowey Lifeboat Station.

During the ceremony, the lifeboat will be on display in the harbour. Crew members will also give a demonstration in the vessel afterwards.

Members of the public are welcome to attend and watch the ceremony from Town Quay from 3pm onwards.
