Heavy Rain and Strong Winds Set to Batter the South West

South West England is in for a spell of unsettled weather over the coming days, with more rain, strong winds and very mild temperatures in the forecast.

Saturday 21st February

Cloud and patchy drizzle will start the day, with occasional brighter spells, mainly across eastern counties.

More persistent rain is expected to arrive during the afternoon. This could turn locally heavy over hills before clearing eastwards later in the day. It will be windy and very mild, with temperatures reaching a maximum of 13°C.

Tonight will remain cloudy. The last of the rain will clear eastwards before conditions turn somewhat drier for a time. However, another band of rain is set to arrive later, bringing some heavy bursts over moors and hills. Overnight temperatures are forecast to dip to 7°C.

Sunday 22nd February

Sunday begins cloudy with outbreaks of heavy and persistent rain. These conditions will gradually clear as skies brighten from the north.

By the afternoon, sunshine is expected to develop, and it will feel pleasantly warm in the brighter spells. Maximum temperatures will again reach 13°C.

Outlook for Monday 23rd to Wednesday 25th February

Conditions are set to turn unsettled again on Monday, with cloud and rain moving in. It will often remain mild, with strong southwesterly winds at times.

Tuesday and Wednesday are forecast to follow a similar pattern, with further cloud and rain, although some drier interludes are expected.
