Camborne Sixth Form Students Take Part in Thailand Exchange

Students Represent Cornwall on the International Stage

Students from the Cornwall School of Math and Science, the STEM sixth form within Camborne Science & International Academy and part of Athena Learning Trust, have returned from an educational and cultural exchange in Thailand.

The group attended the 9th KVIS Invitational Science Fair 2026 at Kamnoetvidya Science Academy in Nakhon Pathom. The event brought together young scientists from around the world to present projects, exchange ideas and explore developments in STEM education.

Students presented their work to a professional panel and received recognition for their efforts. Austin, Felix, Elyssia and Ella were recognised for their project presentations. Brook and Lily were acknowledged for their overall participation and contribution.

Cultural Experiences Beyond the Classroom

Alongside the science fair, students took part in a range of cultural activities during their time in Thailand.

These included swimming through bioluminescent waters, feeding elephants, exploring temples, experiencing Thai boxing and taking part in a Thai cooking workshop. The group also supported a marine turtle conservation centre, planted mangrove seeds and visited Khaosan Road in Bangkok.

Building Global Experiences

Cornwall School of Math and Science forms part of Camborne Sixth Form at Camborne Science & International Academy. This marked the school’s second visit to Thailand this year. Students have also recently travelled to Japan and Iceland as part of the school’s wider international programme.

Trips like this help them develop confidence, collaboration, and friendships that will last a lifetime, inspiring them to think globally and embrace every opportunity that comes their way.”

The visit highlights the school’s focus on broadening students’ global experiences and encouraging them to challenge themselves beyond the classroom.
