St Piran’s Day Events Planned in Saltash on 5th March

Saltash is set to mark St Piran’s Day with a morning of events on Thursday 5th March 2026, bringing the community together to celebrate Cornish heritage.

Organised by Saltash Town Council, the open, non ticketed events are expected to draw a strong turnout.

Morning Programme

The day begins at 10:30am with a Town Square Gathering and Proclamation on Fore Street, outside Superdrug.

At 11:00am, the Walk to England and Back will set off from Fore Street. The symbolic walk includes crossing the Tamar Bridge.

The morning concludes with a Community Celebration at Cornish Cross at approximately 11:45am.

St Piran’s Day is described as an important celebration of Cornish heritage and community spirit, with the proclamation, walk and gathering all providing photo and interview opportunities.

Event Information and Safety Advice

In advance of the celebrations, Saltash Town Council shared further details for those planning to attend.

The council confirmed:

We’re looking forward to celebrating with you at:
📍 Town Square Gathering & Proclamation – Fore Street at 10:30am
🚶 Walk to England and Back – starting on Fore Street at 11:00am
🎶 Community Celebration – Cornish Cross at 11:45am (approx.)

These are open, non-ticketed public events and may become busy. Please help us keep everyone safe:

• Follow marshal instructions at all times
• Remain on pavements and use designated crossing points
• When crossing the Tamar Bridge, keep to the pedestrian lane at all times
• Supervise children closely, especially near roads
• Keep emergency access routes clear
• Dress appropriately for the weather and wear suitable footwear for the walk
• If you need assistance, speak to a marshal

Anyone attending on Thursday 5th March is advised to allow extra time, follow guidance from marshals and take care when moving between locations, particularly when crossing the Tamar Bridge.
