Sennen Cove RNLI Welcomes Its First Female D Class Helm

With International Women’s Day approaching, Sennen Cove RNLI has announced a milestone at the station with the appointment of its first female helm for the D class inshore lifeboat.

RNLI volunteer Izzy Puddiphatt has successfully completed her pass out following a full assessment earlier today, Friday 6th March.

Qualification Completed After Assessment

Izzy underwent a series of pass out exercises under the watchful eye of Lifeboat Trainer Assessor Lyle Stantiford.

During the assessment, she demonstrated the level of competency required to take command of the station’s D class inshore lifeboat Arangy during search and rescue operations.

Having met the required standard, Izzy is now qualified to helm the lifeboat.

Hard Work Recognised

According to the RNLI, Izzy worked extremely hard to achieve the qualification. Her achievement comes just ahead of International Women’s Day and marks an important moment for the lifeboat station.

She will now be able to take command of Arangy and lead crews during search and rescue call outs from Sennen Cove.

The station added that Izzy will no doubt be an inspiration to those who will go to sea under her leadership.
