Wind, Heavy Rain and Colder Air: What’s Coming This Weekend?
A spell of windy and unsettled weather is expected across South West England from Thursday 12th March through to Monday 16th March, with rain at times and a noticeable drop in temperatures heading into Friday.

Wind and Rain Expected on Thursday
Thursday 12th March is forecast to start with some early brightness before turning generally cloudy and windy as the day goes on. Showery outbreaks of rain are expected to develop, with the possibility of some heavier bursts.
Strong southwesterly winds are also set to develop during the day, with gales likely in coastal and upland areas. Despite the unsettled conditions, it will remain relatively mild, with maximum temperatures reaching around 13°C.
Wet and Windy Evening Before Colder Air Arrives
Thursday evening is expected to bring very wet and windy conditions, including periods of heavy rain. Clearer skies are forecast to arrive overnight.
Temperatures will fall, turning colder by the early hours, although most areas are expected to stay frost free. There is also the possibility of the odd wintry shower over higher ground as winds begin to ease. Overnight temperatures are expected to dip to around 4°C.
Brighter but Much Colder on Friday
Friday 13th March is set to feel much colder, although it should bring brighter conditions compared with Thursday.
The day will feature a mixture of cloudy periods and sunny spells. Blustery showers may pass through at times, with the potential for these to fall as wintry showers over higher ground. Daytime temperatures are forecast to reach a maximum of around 8°C.

Changeable Weekend Ahead
Looking ahead to the weekend and early next week, Saturday 14th March could begin with a frosty start in some places. The day is expected to bring bright spells along with well scattered showers.
Conditions then turn more changeable on Sunday 15th March and Monday 16th March, with occasional rain possible. Temperatures are expected to gradually become somewhat milder again, although breezy conditions may continue at times.
