Devon & Cornwall Police Release February Road Safety Figures

Hundreds Caught on Devon and Cornwall Roads in February

Devon & Cornwall Police have released their latest monthly figures showing the work carried out by the Devon & Cornwall Police Road Safety Team during February, highlighting enforcement activity aimed at keeping people safe on the region’s roads.

The figures form part of a regular monthly summary from the team, which says it wants to encourage people to slow down and make safer choices when driving, riding or travelling on local roads.

Speed checks and enforcement activity

During February, officers carried out 122 Community Speed Watch (CSW) sessions and spent 534 hours on speed detection across Devon and Cornwall.

The work resulted in 278 officer-issued tickets being recorded over the course of the month.

Education and driver referrals

Alongside enforcement activity, the figures also show the scale of educational work delivered.

A total of 9,712 NDORS educational courses were delivered. NDORS refers to the National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme, which provides driver education following certain offences.

The Road Safety Team also made 122 medical referrals to the DVLA.

Offences and vehicle seizures

Officers recorded 120 mobile phone offences during February.

The team also seized 218 uninsured or unlicensed vehicles, removing them from the road.

Public reports through Op Snap

Members of the public also played a role in reporting driving concerns.

During the month, 484 Op Snap submissions were received. Op Snap allows people to submit footage of suspected road traffic offences.

The latest figures provide a snapshot of the enforcement, education and reporting activity carried out by the Road Safety Team across Devon and Cornwall during February.
