Familiar Pirate FM Voices Return as New Station Launches 30th March

A number of well-known Westcountry radio presenters are set to return to the airwaves when Nation Radio launches local programming across Cornwall, Devon and Somerset on Monday 30th March.

The new station has announced a line-up featuring several familiar voices who previously broadcast across the region, including presenters from the recently closed Pirate FM.

Among those joining Nation Radio are Saffy, Scott Temple, Tony Wright and Stuart McGinley, all of whom previously featured on Pirate FM across Cornwall and Plymouth. They will be joined by former Heart Westcountry presenter Victoria Leigh and Matt Rogan, who spent 10 years hosting Breakfast Shows in Devon on stations including Heart and The Breeze.

Selina Ross, who has been known to many listeners as a voice of Westcountry traffic and travel information for many years, will also return to the region’s airwaves as part of the team.

Investment in South West programming

Nation Radio founder Jason Bryant said the company sees strong potential in the region.

Local presenters leading the shows

Scott Temple, who is part of the presenting team, said the station has brought together experienced broadcasters from the region.

“Nation Radio has assembled a high-quality team of proven broadcasters who live, work and play in the region. With the Westcountry’s Best Variety of Hits, local news and traffic information, Nation Radio will bring distinctive, relevant and local programming for Cornwall, Devon and Somerset.”

Saffy, who previously presented Pirate FM’s Breakfast Show, will take the same slot on Nation Radio alongside Matt Rogan.

“I can’t wait to join Nation Radio and wake up the Westcountry alongside Matt. I’m proud to represent Cornwall and the South West and deliver content which matters most to those in the region, whilst having some laughs along the way!”

How to listen

Nation Radio Somerset is already broadcasting on DAB across Somerset. The service will convert to DAB+ signals with a full programme schedule from Monday 30th March. Listeners can also tune in through the Nation Player mobile app or by asking smart speakers to “Play Nation Radio Somerset”.

Nation Radio Devon launches on Monday 30th March on DAB+ across the Devon and Plymouth multiplexes, as well as through the Nation Player mobile app and smart speakers by saying “Play Nation Radio Devon”.

Nation Radio Cornwall will also launch on Monday 30th March on DAB+ on the Cornwall multiplex, alongside availability on the Nation Player mobile app and smart speakers by saying “Play Nation Radio Cornwall”.

Listeners using DAB digital radio will need a DAB+ compatible radio and may need to rescan or retune their device on 30th March to receive the new services.
