Five New Volunteers Complete Mevagissey Coastguard Training

Five New Coastguard Volunteers Ready for Coastal Rescues

Five new volunteer members of the Mevagissey Coastguard team have successfully completed their Coastguard Rescue Officer training and are now fully qualified to take part in coastal emergency responses.

The volunteers finished their training today, Tuesday 17th March, and are now trained in coastal rescue techniques, search operations and casualty care.

New members join the team

In a statement shared by Mevagissey Coastguard, the team welcomed the new recruits and highlighted the value they bring.

The team said:

“A huge congratulations to the team’s 5 new volunteer members who today completed their Coastguard Rescue Officer training. They’re now fully qualified in coastal rescue techniques, search and casualty care and are ready to take their place in the team.”

The statement also noted that each new volunteer brings their own skills and experience to the team.

“We can’t wait to train and operate alongside them as every new member brings unique skills, knowledge and experience which makes the team stronger as a whole.”

On call all year round

Volunteer Coastguard Rescue Officers are on call around the clock to respond to incidents along the coastline.

The team explained that volunteers are available every day of the year to help people in trouble at the coast.

“Volunteer Coastguard Rescue Officers are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to respond to emergencies on the coast.”

The message also included an important reminder for anyone who finds themselves in difficulty near the sea.

“If you find yourself in trouble call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
