Wales & West Utilities Colleagues Raise £150,000 for Communities

Colleagues at Wales & West Utilities have raised more than £150,000 over the past year to support charities, sports clubs and community groups across Wales and the south west of England.

The total comes from a mix of colleague-led fundraising, company match funding and sponsorship of local sports organisations. More than £26,000 of the total was provided through the company’s match-funding scheme.

According to the company, the money has benefited thousands of people across its operating area, supporting both national and local charities as well as grassroots clubs and teams.

Colleagues Supporting Communities

Bethan Jones, Head of People & Customer Experience at Wales & West Utilities, said the fundraising highlights the ongoing efforts made by staff to support the areas they work in.

“Year after year our colleagues continually go above and beyond to support the communities we work in, not only through fundraising, but also through community engagement initiatives. We are proud to enhance their efforts through match funding and sponsorship, ensuring their commitment and impact goes even further in giving back to the communities we serve.

Wider Community Support Programmes

Wales & West Utilities also reported progress through its Vulnerability and Carbon Monoxide Allowance (VCMA) programme.

The programme is on track to support more than 700,000 customers and provide over £43 million in funding to help reduce the risks of carbon monoxide poisoning and tackle fuel poverty, meeting commitments set out in the company’s business plan.

The company said its wider corporate social responsibility work continues to focus on supporting wellbeing and strengthening connections within communities across the region.

Gas Network Serving Millions

Wales & West Utilities is the gas emergency and pipeline service responsible for delivering energy to more than 7.5 million people across Wales and the south west of England. The company does not sell gas but transports it through an underground network spanning more than 35,000 kilometres of pipes.

Anyone who smells gas or suspects carbon monoxide is advised to call the National Gas Emergency number on 0800 111 999 immediately. Trained engineers are available 24 hours a day to respond.
