Spring Sunshine Returns… But There’s a Chilly Catch

People across the South West of England can expect a bright end to the working week, with plenty of spring sunshine forecast from Friday 20th March through to the weekend.

Bright but chilly start

Friday begins on a colder note, with some mist and fog in places early on. Once this clears, conditions are set to improve, bringing warm sunshine through the rest of the day. Temperatures are expected to reach a maximum of 15°C.

Cold nights and possible frost

Despite the daytime sunshine, temperatures will drop quickly after sunset. Overnight, it will turn colder with patchy frost possible in rural areas. Some mist and fog may also develop again, particularly in the east, with lows around 4°C.

A sunny start to the weekend

Saturday is expected to follow a similar pattern, with a dry and settled day ahead. After any early mist or fog clears, there will be plenty of blue skies and sunshine. Temperatures will peak slightly lower at around 14°C.

Change on the horizon

Looking ahead to Sunday through to Tuesday, Sunday will remain settled with some sunshine. However, conditions are set to become more changeable into next week, with some rain expected at times from Tuesday. It is also likely to feel cooler compared to recent days.

The run of sunny weather offers a taste of spring, but colder nights and a shift towards unsettled conditions are not far behind.
