Crantock Surf Life Saving Club Submits Plans for New Hut

Crantock Surf Life Saving Club has announced that its planning application for a new club hut at Crantock Beach is now live, with a decision expected on 6th May.

The club, which has been based at the beach for over 40 years, says its current hut has played a key role in supporting its activities but is now facing increasing challenges due to coastal conditions and shifting dunes.

Why a New Hut Is Being Proposed

According to the club, the changing coastline means it is time to look at a more resilient and future-ready space. The proposed design aims to balance the needs of the club with the surrounding environment.

Plans include keeping the new structure within the existing footprint to help protect the dune habitat, while also improving visibility across the beach to support safety and rescue operations.

Design Focused on Safety and Landscape

The design has been developed to minimise its impact on the landscape while adapting to the evolving coastal environment.

A small second-storey addition is also part of the proposal. This would help maintain clear sightlines across the beach, particularly towards the Gannel Estuary, which the club says is important for effective monitoring and response.

Decision Expected in May

A decision on the application is due on 6th May.
