According to Cornwall Council, the texts are designed to look like official communication about a parking charge notice. However, the council has made it clear that this is not how they contact people.
They stated that they never contact individuals about parking charge notices by phone or text.
What you should do
Anyone who receives a message like this is being advised not to click on any links or share personal or financial details.
The warning comes as part of efforts to prevent people from being caught out by fraudulent messages.
