Truro Lawyer Joins Charity Helping 4,000 Brain Injury Patients

A Truro-based personal injury specialist has been appointed as a trustee for a Cornwall charity supporting people living with brain injuries.

Eleanor Armstrong, a legal director at Enable Law’s Cornwall office in Truro, has joined the board of trustees at Headway Cornwall as the charity looks to expand its support across the eastern area of the county.

Supporting Growth Across Cornwall

Eleanor’s appointment comes at a time when Headway Cornwall is planning to strengthen its presence in eastern Cornwall, with a focus on meeting the needs of around 4,000 people diagnosed with acquired brain injuries across the county each year.

Speaking about her new role, Eleanor Armstrong said:
“It is a genuine honour to have been invited to become a Headway Cornwall trustee because it is a highly respected charity which provides vital support people who are living with brain injuries and their loved ones.

“I know from speaking to Enable Law clients that they really benefit from the services Headway staff provide including physical and cognitive rehabilitation, social activities and emotional support.

“And I’m looking forward to using my legal experience to help those people who rely on Headway Cornwall and will do everything I can to help the charity build on its proud history and go from strength to strength to make sure individuals secure the legal help they deserve.”

Vital Support for Brain Injury Patients

Headway Cornwall provides a range of services for people living with acquired or traumatic brain injuries. These injuries can result from medical conditions such as heart attacks, tumours and strokes, as well as from accidents, falls and assaults.

The charity runs a weekly day service every Tuesday at Redruth Rugby Club. These sessions are designed to help improve self-esteem, confidence and overall wellbeing, while also supporting physical rehabilitation and reducing feelings of stress and isolation.

Those attending are encouraged to try new hobbies and develop new skills. In addition, Headway Cornwall offers telephone and online support, along with information, advice, and home and hospital visits.

Charity Welcomes New Trustee

Headway Cornwall administrator Richard Monk welcomed Eleanor’s appointment, saying:

Working Together to Support Recovery

Suffering a brain injury can have a lasting impact, affecting not only the individual but also their wider support network, including health, employment, relationships and independence.
