Bodmin Pub Reopens With Big Changes and a New Family Behind It

A well-known Bodmin pub has reopened its doors with a fresh look and new publicans leading the way.

The Weavers Inn welcomed its first guests back over the weekend, now run by experienced operator Annie Rafiqi and her father Omar, following a refurbishment by St Austell Brewery.

Refurbishment Brings a Fresh Feel

The reopening follows what has been described as a sensitive refurbishment of the pub. Changes include a traditional timber bar, new autumnal colour schemes with rustic greens and warm rust reds, along with new carpets, wall panelling and heritage inspired wallpaper and artwork.

The work has been carried out to refresh the interiors while keeping the building’s historic character intact.

A Family Move to Cornwall

Annie Rafiqi brings more than ten years of experience in the pub and hospitality trade, including two and a half years running a busy Craft Union pub.

Originally from Redditch, Annie has now relocated to Bodmin with her partner Paul, their four-month-old son George, and her parents Margaret and Omar, who are all involved in running the pub.

Annie said: “Cornwall has felt like home since I was a child, and when I saw The Weavers come up, I knew the time was right. My best friend lives five minutes away and everything just fell into place. We’re a real family team and we’re excited to bring our energy and experience to the town. The Weavers is a beautiful pub with so much potential. We want to bring it back to life at the heart of Bodmin.”

Plans for Entertainment and Atmosphere

Annie first trained in an independent cask ale bar ten years ago and has developed a strong interest in wet led pubs and their role in the community.

Alongside the updated interiors, there are plans to introduce a full entertainment programme, including live music, karaoke nights and a relaxed Sunday ‘live lounge’ feel. Food may also return at a later stage.

The pub will also feature live sport on new screens, a refreshed darts area, games space, pool table and jukebox. A piano is also set to be added.

“My dad plays, so we’ll be putting one in the pub,” Annie said. “There’s nothing better than people joining in with a singalong, especially on match days.”

“The Weavers is an important pub in the town, and it’s fantastic to see it reopening with a fresh offer and renewed enthusiasm behind it. We’re committed to working with great business partners who share our love of community pubs, and we’re excited to see The Weavers thrive under Annie’s leadership.”
