Cold Snap Returns: Temperatures Drop to 2°C This Week
A cooler spell of weather is set to move across South West England, with temperatures dropping sharply and unsettled conditions expected to follow into the weekend.
According to the latest update from the Environment Agency at 06:24 (UTC+1) on Thursday 9th April, the region will see a noticeable shift after recent milder days.

Cooler Conditions Set In
Thursday 9th April will begin cloudier in the east, with the possibility of light rain through the morning. Brighter spells are expected to develop later in the day, although a very isolated shower cannot be ruled out.
Temperatures will feel much cooler compared to recent days, with a maximum of around 15°C.
Chilly Nights Ahead
Into Thursday night, conditions are expected to turn dry with clear spells at first. Cloud will increase later, bringing a growing risk of patchy drizzle across hills and moors by dawn.
Overnight temperatures are forecast to drop to a minimum of 2°C.
Rain and Wind Moving In
Friday 10th April is expected to bring a largely cloudy start, with outbreaks of rain spreading across the region during the day. Winds will strengthen, becoming gusty overnight.
Daytime temperatures will struggle to reach higher levels, with a maximum of around 12°C.

Unsettled Weekend Forecast
Looking ahead to the weekend and into Monday 13th April, conditions are expected to remain unsettled.
Sunny spells will be mixed with showers or longer periods of rain, with some showers turning heavy and bringing the risk of thunder. Winds are also expected to pick up, with coastal gales possible.
Temperatures are forecast to stay near average for the time of year.
Flood Alerts in Place
The update also confirms that flood alerts are currently in force for England.
