Pink Wig Parade Returns: Falmouth Set to Shine Again

Cornwall is set to shimmer once again this summer as the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity Pink Wig Mermaid March returns to Falmouth on Friday 7th August 2026.

The much-loved event, held during Falmouth Week, brings a wave of colour, positivity, and community spirit while raising vital funds for The Mermaid Centre, Cornwall’s dedicated breast cancer unit at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.

A Celebration of Strength and Support

More than just a parade, the Pink Wig Mermaid March has become a symbol of unity, remembrance, and hope across Cornwall.

Funds raised go towards supporting The Mermaid Centre with essential extras that fall outside NHS budgets. This includes enhancements to improve the environment, support staff training, and provide additional comfort for patients and their families.

Participants are invited to take part in their own way, whether that is wearing a pink wig, dressing as a mermaid, or simply lining the streets to show support.

Creativity Takes Centre Stage

This year’s Mermaid theme encourages people to get creative, with styles ranging from disco and retro to pirate, boho, rock and roll, punk, and masquerade mermaids.

Organisers say creativity is not only welcomed but celebrated, helping to make the event one of the most colourful on Cornwall’s calendar.

Pre-March Reception

The evening begins with a pre-event reception at The Greenbank, offering a waterfront setting where participants can gather, enjoy light refreshments, and prepare for the march. The hotel will also donate proceeds from reception sales to support The Mermaid Centre.

The March

The march itself sets off from The Greenbank at 7pm, weaving through the streets of Falmouth in a vibrant display of community spirit. Many take part in memory of loved ones or to support those currently affected by breast cancer.

Silent Disco Party

After the march, the celebration continues at the Falmouth Week Event Marquee with a silent disco powered by DeluxX DJs. Participants will be given LED headphones with three different music channels, creating a unique atmosphere as people dance to their own beat.
