Thunder, Hail and Heavy Showers Set to Hit This Weekend

A blustery spell of April weather is set to sweep across the South West from Saturday 11th April through to Wednesday 15th April, bringing a mix of sunshine, heavy showers and strong winds.

Wet Start Before Showers and Sunshine

Saturday will begin with a wet morning, although rain is expected to clear eastwards fairly quickly. Conditions will then turn brighter, with sunshine and scattered blustery showers developing through the day.

Some of these showers could turn heavy, with a risk of hail and even thunder. It is also expected to feel chilly, with a gusty southwesterly wind and a maximum temperature of 11°C.

Windy Night with Further Showers

The unsettled weather will continue into Saturday night. Winds are set to remain strong, with further showers moving through the region during the evening and overnight.

Some of these could again be heavy, with a continued risk of hail. Temperatures are expected to drop to a minimum of 4°C.

Sunday Brings More Heavy Rain Spells

Sunday is expected to follow a similar pattern, with sunny spells mixed with showers throughout the day. At times, these showers may merge into longer spells of heavy rain.

Winds will stay brisk for much of the day, although there are signs they may begin to ease later in the afternoon. Temperatures are forecast to reach a high of 12°C.

Mixed Conditions Into Next Week

Looking ahead to Monday through Wednesday, the unsettled theme continues.

Monday will see a mix of sunshine and showers. Conditions are expected to turn drier and brighter on Tuesday, before rain arrives later in the day. By Wednesday, the weather is set to become wetter and windier once again.

Temperatures are expected to trend slightly upwards as the week progresses.
