Thunder, Hail and Frost? Cornwall Faces Mixed Weather This Week

A changeable spell of weather is set to affect the South West, with a mix of sunshine, heavy showers and chilly nights expected between Sunday 12th April and Thursday 16th April.

Unsettled Sunday with Heavy Showers Possible

Sunday 12th April will bring a mix of bright or sunny spells along with showery outbreaks of rain. Some of these showers could turn heavy, with the potential for hail and thunder.

Winds are expected to be brisk and gusty from the south west, although they should gradually ease as the day goes on. Temperatures are forecast to reach a maximum of 12°C.

Chilly Night with Risk of Frost

Overnight into Monday, a few coastal showers may continue, but inland areas are expected to become largely dry with clear spells.

Temperatures will drop, with a minimum of 2°C. Frost is likely to develop in rural areas, and there is also a chance of some fog patches forming as winds become lighter.

Showers Return on Monday

Monday 13th April is expected to start mostly fine with some sunshine. However, showers will develop through the day, with some turning locally heavy and thundery.

Despite the unsettled conditions, it is expected to feel less chilly than recent days, with lighter winds. Temperatures will again peak at around 12°C.

Mixed Outlook Through Midweek

Looking ahead, Tuesday should begin bright before turning cloudier and breezier, with patchy rain developing later.

Wednesday is expected to bring wet and windy weather, followed by a mix of sunshine and showers on Thursday. Temperatures are forecast to rise slightly as the week progresses.
