Urgent Appeal: Can You Help Keep These Rescuers Safe?

A volunteer search and rescue team in East Cornwall is asking for public support as it looks to replace essential safety equipment used during life-saving callouts.

East Cornwall Search & Rescue Team has launched its “Buy us a helmet” campaign, aiming to fund 20 new helmets for its volunteers this year.

Why the helmets are needed

The team says its mission is to save the lives of people in grave and imminent danger, with volunteers regularly deployed across East Cornwall, from Bodmin Moor to the coastline.

Helmets are a key part of that work, providing head protection while team members assist people in distress. Each helmet costs £75 and must legally be replaced after 10 years of service.

With 20 helmets due for replacement this year, the team describes the cost as a significant investment and is reaching out for support.

How people can help

The campaign encourages people to contribute in several ways:

• Donate: Supporters are asked to consider donating £75 to fund a helmet. Those who do will receive updates directly from the team member using it. Smaller donations are also welcomed.
• Share: The team is asking people to spread the word by sharing the campaign with friends, family and on social media.
• Volunteer: The group is also looking for a Marketing Manager to support campaigns like this one.
