Toby Parkins Appointed Interim CEO of Cornwall Chamber of Commerce

Cornwall Chamber of Commerce has appointed its current President, Toby Parkins, as Interim Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect, as the organisation begins its search for a permanent leader.

The move comes following the departure of former CEO John Brown, who will remain on the board and continue supporting the organisation during the transition, with a particular focus on policy development.

Stepping Up

Toby’s appointment is intended to provide stability over the next six months while the Chamber carries out a recruitment process to find a permanent successor.

Laura Whyte, Chair of Cornwall Chamber of Commerce, said: “We are extremely grateful to Toby for stepping into this role at an important time for the Chamber. His leadership, insight, and deep understanding of our organisation will provide the continuity we need as we look to the future. This gives us the time and space to find the right long-term successor while ensuring our work continues without disruption.”

What Toby Will Focus On

In the interim role, Toby will focus on maintaining the strategic direction that John established, while continuing to support the team responsible for delivering business services to Chamber members, including events, membership support and trade support.

One of the main objectives is to ensure our next permanent CEO has a strong Chamber to go forward with.”
