Redruth Operatic Society Brings Come From Away to the Minack

A Cornwall-based theatre group is bringing one of the most celebrated musicals of recent years to one of the world’s most dramatic performance spaces this May.

Redruth Amateur Operatic Society Trust is staging Come From Away at the Minack Theatre, Porthcurno, from the 25th to the 29th of May 2026. It will be the ninth time the society has performed at the clifftop venue.

About the Show

Come From Away tells the true story of 7,000 airline passengers who were grounded in the small Canadian town of Gander, Newfoundland, following the September 11th attacks in 2001. The show focuses on the generosity shown by the local community who took the stranded travellers in, and has won audiences over around the world with its mix of heart, humour, and a message of unity.

The Venue

The Minack Theatre, carved into the cliffs above the Atlantic Ocean at Porthcurno, is one of Cornwall’s most distinctive performance spaces. The open-air setting is expected to add to the emotional weight of the story.

This will mark the ninth production Redruth Amateur Operatic Society Trust has brought to the Minack. The society, which was founded in 1909, won the Minack Trophy Award for best production in 2018 for its staging of Jesus Christ Superstar.
