Cornwall and the wider South West are in for a largely pleasant week, with dry and settled conditions dominating for most of the next five days, though there are a few things worth keeping an eye on.

Today (Monday 20th April)

Any patchy fog and frost from the overnight period will clear quickly this morning, giving way to a mainly dry day with sunny spells. Some cloud may build through the afternoon and there is a small chance of the odd light shower, but nothing significant is expected. An easterly breeze will develop through the day. Temperatures will reach a maximum of 14°C.

Tonight will be dry and clear in spells, but temperatures will dip again with frost possible in rural areas. The easterly wind will also freshen overnight, with a minimum temperature of around 4°C.

Tuesday 21st April

Another fine day is on the cards. Expect dry conditions and plenty of sunshine, making for a pleasant feel despite a brisk easterly wind that will take the edge off the warmth. Maximum temperature again 14°C.

Wednesday 22nd to Friday 24th April

Wednesday brings a change in feel, with stronger winds arriving mid-week. There is also a chance of some rain in the far west of the region, so those in West Cornwall and out towards Land’s End should be prepared for a wetter spell. Further east, conditions look drier.

Thursday and Friday see things settle back down, with sunny periods returning and winds gradually easing. Overnight frosts remain possible through to the end of the week, so gardeners in particular may want to keep an eye on temperatures.
