Speed Cameras Out Across Cornwall 20th–26th April. 

Devon & Cornwall Police have revealed exactly where their speed detection officers will be operating this week, giving drivers a heads-up about where enforcement activity is focused across the region.

The Road Safety Team has published its schedule for the week commencing 20th April, covering locations across Cornwall, Devon and beyond.

Monday 20th April

Officers are out in West Cornwall, Mid Cornwall, Bodmin and Launceston, as well as Exeter and East Devon.

Tuesday 21st April

Speed detection activity moves across West Cornwall, Mid Cornwall, Liskeard and Bodmin, with officers also working in Tiverton, Cullompton, West Devon and Whiddon Down.

Wednesday 22nd April

One of the busier days on the schedule, with officers deployed across West Cornwall, Mid Cornwall, Wadebridge, Bodmin, the A386, Tavistock, Plymouth, the A38 South Devon corridor, North Devon, Winkleigh and Torbay.

Thursday 23rd April

Focus shifts to Mid Cornwall, West Cornwall, Launceston, Bodmin, Dartmoor, North Devon, the A379 and Dawlish.

Friday 24th April

Officers will be working Plymouth, the A38 South Devon, North Devon, Crediton, Exeter, the A3052, West Hill and Totnes.

Weekend

On Saturday 25th April, enforcement concentrates on Honiton, Dunkeswell, Whiddon Down and the A30 West and Mid Devon. Sunday 26th April sees activity on the A30 West Devon, Exeter and Tiverton.

Why It Matters

The enforcement activity comes against a backdrop of concerning road safety figures for the region. Provisional figures from the Department for Transport show there were 1,237 casualties on roads in Cornwall in 2024, including 19 fatalities.  While that does represent an improvement on the previous year, the numbers remain a stark reminder of the dangers facing road users across the county.

Across the Devon and Cornwall police force area as a whole, there were 3,637 casualties in 2024, with May recording the highest number of casualties of any month at 358. With spring now well underway and more vehicles on the roads, the timing of this week’s enforcement push is significant.

The Vision Zero South West road safety partnership, founded in 2019, has committed to reducing deaths and serious injuries on Devon and Cornwall’s roads by 50% by 2030. Vision Zero Speed enforcement is a key part of that effort.

The team has urged all drivers to drive carefully and within the speed limit wherever they are this week.
