Frost, Gales and Then Glorious Sun: What’s Coming This Week
Cornwall and the wider South West is in for a mixed bag this week, with strong winds and a frost risk giving way to warm, sunny days by the end of the week.
Today: Hazy sunshine but watch the wind
Tuesday is bringing a good deal of cloud alongside some sunshine, though it is looking hazy at times, particularly in the west. Easterly winds are strengthening across the day, with the moors of Devon and Cornwall likely to bear the brunt of it. Out of the wind, though, temperatures should feel quite pleasant, with a maximum of 15°C expected.
Tonight and Wednesday: Gales possible on exposed coasts
Overnight conditions stay dry but remain breezy, with strong and gusty winds persisting into the small hours. There is a touch of frost possible in some sheltered spots across eastern counties, with temperatures dipping to around 3°C.
Wednesday looks to be the windiest day of the spell. Strong easterly winds are forecast, and gales are possible on exposed coasts. The far west faces an increasing risk of showers, while eastern counties should stay sunnier. Temperatures could nudge up to 17°C.

Thursday to Saturday: The good stuff
Things take a turn for the better from Thursday. High pressure takes charge, bringing dry conditions and plenty of sunshine through Thursday and Friday. It should feel genuinely warm during the day, though nights will remain chilly as the wind slowly eases.
Saturday introduces a bit more cloud and a chance of rain returning, so it is worth making the most of the sunshine while it lasts.
