Two People Rescued After Being Cut Off by Rising Tide Near Bude

Bude RNLI volunteers launched their D class lifeboat on the evening of Monday 20th April after reports came in of two people trapped by the rising tide between Crooklets and Northcott beaches.

The call came in just after 6pm, with the crew responding promptly and locating the casualties quickly. Crucially, the two people had called for help early rather than attempting to make their own way to safety, a decision that made the rescue straightforward.

Brought Safely Ashore

The casualties were taken on board the lifeboat and returned to Summerleaze Beach, where they were met by Bude Coastguard Rescue Team.

The RNLI noted the strong turnout from volunteers to support the launch and recovery, describing it as a team effort across the station. HM Coastguard also provided support on scene.

The incident serves as a timely reminder to check tide times before heading out along the coast. If you find yourself cut off or in difficulty, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
