Cornwall’s Weather Takes a Soggy Turn Before Things Heat Up

Planning to dust off the garden chairs this week? You might want to hold off for a day or two. The Met Office forecast for South West England covering Tuesday 5th May through to Saturday 9th May suggests a mixed bag, with cloud, showers and a noticeable warm-up tucked into the second half of the week.

Tuesday’s outlook

Today should stay largely dry across the region, with a few bright or sunny spells breaking through at times. The catch is along the north coast, where cloud is set to thicken and bring occasional showery outbreaks of rain. Top temperature today reaches 17°C.

Overnight into Wednesday

Tonight stays cloudy, and while the odd spot of rain can’t be ruled out, most places will stay dry. That blanket of cloud acts as a duvet of sorts, keeping temperatures well above freezing with a minimum of 6°C overnight.

Wednesday starts cloudy and grey. The west holds onto the cloud with showers at times, but in the east the cloud thins out enough to allow a few brighter spells through. Maximum temperature drops slightly to 15°C.

Thursday to Saturday

Looking further ahead, the outlook from Thursday to Saturday stays largely cloudy with scattered showers at times. Some brighter spells are possible, and there’s better news on the temperature front, with the Met Office indicating it will be turning warmer as the week goes on.

So if the early part of the week feels a touch grey, hang on. The weekend looks set to deliver something a little kinder.
