Cornwall Weather: Why This Weekend Could Catch You Out
Planning to dust off the barbecue or head to the coast this weekend? You might want to read this first.
The weather across Cornwall and the wider South West is set for a mixed run between Thursday 7th May and Monday 11th May, with bright spells, scattered showers and a noticeable temperature dip on the way.
Thursday and overnight
Today brings a few heavy showers across the southwest of Cornwall, with the rest of the region staying mostly dry but cloudy. A few showers are likely elsewhere, mainly in the west, and the best of any sunshine will be tucked away in the east. The maximum temperature today is 15°C.
Overnight, those showers ease off, leaving the region dry with patchy cloud and some clear spells. Most places will stay above freezing, though there is a risk of grass frost in spots. The minimum temperature is 3°C.
Friday warms up
Friday starts dry with variable cloud before showers develop into the afternoon. These can be slow moving and heavy when they arrive, so anyone heading out later in the day might want to keep a coat handy. The south stays dry, and it will be warmer than recent days, with a maximum temperature of 17°C.

Weekend and Monday outlook
Saturday and Sunday look mixed, with showers in places but bright or sunny spells never too far away. So it is not a write-off, but you may need to dodge a few downpours.
Monday is where things take a turn. More showers are expected in the southwest, and temperatures will drop.
The forecast was issued by the Met Office for the South West of England.
