Bodmin Jail Launches New Tour of Lesser-Seen Areas
What’s behind the parts of the jail most visitors don’t get to see? Bodmin Jail Attraction has just launched a new outdoor history tour that takes guests into areas of the Victorian prison grounds left out of the standard visitor route.

A Walk Through the Grounds
The new one-hour guided walking tour covers the courtyard, gatehouse, prisoner wings and exercise yard. Visitors will hear about the realities of daily prison life, along with stories of executions, escape attempts and prison riots, led by the attraction’s award-winning guides.
It’s a fresh way to experience the site beyond the standard visitor offering, taking in areas that aren’t typically part of traditional tours.
Dogs Welcome Too
One detail that stands out from the rest of the visitor experience is that the new tour is dog friendly, so anyone wanting to bring their four-legged companion along can do so.
Extra Access for Tour Guests
Anyone booking the one-hour tour also gets an exclusive discounted self-guided ticket, allowing them to keep exploring the jail at their own pace once the guided portion finishes.
Built in 1779, Bodmin Jail is one of Cornwall’s most significant historic landmarks and now operates as an immersive heritage attraction.
