Penlee Lifeboat Takes Unwell Man Ashore from Yacht at St Michael’s Mount
A quiet morning anchorage near one of Cornwall’s most famous landmarks turned into an emergency call before most people had finished their first coffee.
Penlee RNLI was tasked by Falmouth Coastguard at 6:30am on 23rd May 2026 to assist a yacht anchored near St Michael’s Mount. The lifeboat launched under the command of helm Andrew ‘Woody’ Wood, with three RNLI volunteers on board.
The crew brought an unwell man ashore at Newlyn, where he was transferred to West Cornwall Hospital for assessment and treatment.
He was later well enough to return to his yacht, which is now moored in Newlyn.
With the man safely cared for, the lifeboat crew stood down and prepared the vessel for the next shout.
