Charlestown Driver Arrested on Suspicion of Class A Drug Supply

A routine traffic stop on a Saturday night in Charlestown ended with a man behind bars, suspected Class A drugs in evidence bags, and officers turning up at his front door.

What happened in Charlestown

On the evening of Saturday 23rd May, neighbourhood officers from St Austell Police pulled over a vehicle being driven in Charlestown. The stop quickly escalated. The male driver was arrested for drug possession and supply offences after suspected Class A controlled drugs were found on him.

He was then arrested a second time for driving offences after failing a roadside drugs test.

Search at the address

Officers did not stop there. A follow-up search at the man’s address turned up more suspected controlled drugs along with suspected stolen goods.

The man has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police response

St Austell Police described the operation as proactive work by the neighbourhood team aimed at removing drugs from local streets, and said they remain committed to tackling those causing drug related harm in the community.
