Cornwall’s Sunshine Spell Won’t Last Long This Weekend

Cornwall is heading into a weekend of two halves, with warm sunshine giving way to heavy showers and possible thunderstorms by Monday.

A bright start to the weekend

The Met Office forecast for Friday 29th May covers the period through to Tuesday 2nd June, with conditions staying warm but becoming more unsettled as the weekend progresses.

Friday started cloudier across the South West, with a few spots of rain likely before clearing eastwards. Skies will brighten from the west by lunchtime, with plenty of sunshine developing through the afternoon. It will feel fresher than recent days, though still above the May average, with a maximum temperature of 23°C.

Overnight, clearer skies for many will allow temperatures to fall, giving a much more comfortable night. It stays dry with mist and fog in places, dropping to a minimum of 6°C.

Saturday stays sunny

Saturday’s mist and fog will clear to leave bright and sunny spells for many. It remains very warm for the time of year, although temperatures will be slightly lower than of late, with a maximum of 21°C.

Rain returns by Sunday

The settled spell breaks down on Sunday, with more rain and cloud arriving alongside some sunny spells. The unsettled theme continues into Monday with heavy showers and possible thunderstorms.

Conditions stay unsettled through the rest of the week as temperatures return to average.
