Mason Brewing Co Selected for Aus Fest 2026 UK-Australia Line-Up

A Cornish brewery has been picked as one of only six UK breweries chosen to collaborate with Australian brewers for the launch of a new beer festival, and the beer they made for it is now on sale in Truro.

Mason Brewing Co has teamed up with Brisbane’s Aether Brewing for the first ever edition of Aus Fest 2026. The two breweries worked together virtually to create Defying Gravity, an 8.2% Double IPA brewed in Cornwall.

Six UK breweries have been selected for the debut festival, which is organised by BarthHaas and Brewers Select. Aus Fest brings together breweries from the UK and Australia, with a focus on using Australian hops in fresh collaborations.

The festival is described as a beer and music-led event celebrating the energy, creativity and culture behind modern independent brewing.

Three festival stops over two months

Defying Gravity will be poured at all three Aus Fest events over the next two months. The festival travels to Northern Monk Refectory in Manchester, St Monday Brewery in London, and Moor Beer in Bristol.

Mike, founder of Mason Brewing Co, said the selection matters for the wider Cornish beer scene.

Working virtually with Aether Brewing on Defying Gravity has been brilliant, and to see a beer brewed here in Cornwall pouring at events alongside some incredible breweries from the UK and Australia is pretty special.”

What’s in the can

Defying Gravity is described by the brewery as a bold, juicy Double IPA packed with tropical hop character, soft bitterness and a full-bodied finish. It was brewed to stand out in a line-up built around boundary-pushing beer.

Cornish beer fans don’t need to travel up country to try it. Limited-edition cans of Defying Gravity are available now from the Mason Brewing Co taproom and online store, and from Red Elephant Beer Cellar in Truro.
