Thunder Today Then a Twist in Cornwall’s Weekend Weather

If you were hoping to leave the brolly at home this week, the forecast has other ideas, at least for the first half of it.

The latest outlook for South West England covers Thursday 4th June through to Monday 8th June, and it starts wet before things gradually settle down.

Showers and possible thunder today

Frequent showers are expected through the morning, with the chance of thunder thrown in. By the afternoon those showers turn more scattered, and sunny spells start to break through.

It will be rather windy, particularly near the coasts, so anyone heading out along the cliffs or beaches should expect a blustery day. The maximum temperature is 17°C.

Overnight, the showers shift their focus towards the north and west of the region, with some clear spells developing later in the night. Winds will slowly ease, and the temperature drops to a minimum of 9°C.

Cool for the time of year

One thing the forecast keeps coming back to is how cool it all feels for June. Today is described as cool for the time of year, although it will feel warmer in the sunnier moments.

Friday 5th carries the same theme. Showers are still likely in the west, with more persistent rain arriving here later in the day. Elsewhere there will be variable amounts of cloud along with bright or sunny spells. The maximum is again 17°C, and it will feel cool for June.

A brighter weekend on the way

The better news arrives over the weekend. Saturday 6th starts windy, with overnight rain clearing to brighter skies later in the day.

Sunday 7th brings a mix of sunshine and showers, before further rain moves in on Sunday night. That clears to leave a brighter, showery day on Monday 8th.

So the short version: a wet and cool start, then a slow turn towards something a little kinder by the time the new week begins.
