Wadebridge Town Council Seeks Views on New Pump Track Plan

Wadebridge might be getting a new spot for bikes, scooters and skateboards. There is a question hanging over it though, and the answer rests partly with local residents.

Wadebridge Town Council, working in partnership with Wadebridge Town Team, has opened a community consultation on plans for a pump track alongside the existing skatepark. It runs from 4th June to 2nd July 2026, and anyone with a view on the idea is being asked to take part.

What is a pump track?

A pump track is a continuous loop of rollers, bumps and banked turns built for bikes, scooters, skateboards and other wheeled activities. Rather than pedalling, riders build momentum by ‘pumping’ their body through the features. The council says it is designed to suit a wide range of ages and abilities.

Who would pay for it?

The project is being put forward for funding through Cornwall Council’s Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), and a decision on that application is still awaited.

If the funding comes through, Wadebridge Town Council would take on full responsibility for managing and maintaining the track. The ongoing costs would be met by the council and by the people of Wadebridge through local precept funding. The council says that commitment is precisely why it wants a clear sense of what the community thinks before going any further.

If you would rather not do it online, paper copies will be available from next week in the Town Hall foyer area and at Wadebridge Library.

The council says the feedback will directly inform whether and how the project moves forward.
