Camborne Academy Riders Take On the UK’s Best at Hickstead

Hickstead is one of the country’s most prestigious equestrian venues. Six riders from a Camborne secondary school have just been competing there, up against some of the strongest young talent in the UK.

Riders from Camborne Science and International Academy (CSIA) have returned from the National Schools Equestrian Championships at Hickstead, where they represented the school in show jumping and arena eventing.

Who rode for CSIA

The team was made up of Eleanor N, Evie J, Poppy H, Thomas R, Lexie R and Martha H. Between them they took on two disciplines at an event that draws school riders from across the country.

How they did

In the show jumping, the CSIA team finished 12th overall. Lexie R picked up an individual 9th place finish. The arena eventing team also rode well and came close to a placing, narrowly missing out.

The riders were praised for more than their results. Staff singled out their sportsmanship and the way they backed each other throughout the competition. The school is part of the Athena Learning Trust.
