Holly Collinson missing three months after Truro hospital visit

Holly Collinson walked out of a Truro hospital in a gown, with plastic bags under her shoes and an acoustic guitar in her hands. Three months on, her family still do not know where she is.

Holly’s family issue an emotional plea

The family of missing woman Holly Collinson have made an emotional appeal, asking her to make contact and let them know she is safe.

Holly, 29, was reported missing by her family in Leicestershire on Friday 10 April. Before that she had travelled to Cornwall, and to the Newquay area in particular. She has now been missing for three months.

In a message to her, Holly’s family said: “Holly wherever you are, please try and get in touch. We miss you more and more every day. We are so worried and at our wits end about you wondering if you’re safe and well.

“We love you so much and dearly wish we hear your voice and see you very soon. No matter what we are always here for you. We will never give up hope that you are found. you are forever in our prayers

“Love always, your Mum and Dad.”

Last seen leaving Royal Cornwall Hospital

Holly was last seen leaving Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro on 31 March, at some point between 9am and 11am.

She was wearing a hospital gown, a green jumper and trainers, with black and yellow bags underneath used as socks. She had a white plastic bag with her and a black Takamine acoustic guitar.

Officers think Holly may have changed her clothing after leaving. They believe she then boarded a bus carrying the guitar and a hospital crutch, with the bags under her shoes and a clear bag of belongings in her hands. Holly is known to travel using Cornwall’s bus network.

What Holly looks like

Holly is described as a white woman of slim build, 5ft 7ins tall, with blue eyes and long dark hair. She is known to change her hairstyle and colour often.

She previously had long dreadlocks in black, pink, red and plum shades. On one of the last sightings she had straight dark hair, plum to red on the upper half and darker below, sitting below shoulder length. She was wearing a black coat gilet, dark trousers and a short sleeve black Adidas shirt. She may now be using a crutch to help her get about.

The guitar to look out for

Holly was believed to be carrying a guitar throughout her last known movements. It is a black Takamine electric acoustic, and one feature sets it apart. The battery pack is missing, which leaves a four inch hole at the top side of the body.

The bags on her feet

Police have released pictures of the bags Holly is thought to have had on her feet. The white bag, which was carried rather than worn, has a black logo and the words “patient property” on it. The yellow and black bags are believed to have been used as socks.

Holly also left belongings at a caravan site in the Newquay area. Those items have since been removed, and officers are trying to find out where they are now.

A sighting in Truro

The day before Holly attended Royal Cornwall Hospital, she was caught on CCTV on Tregolls Road in Truro, having arrived via a stop at St Columb Road. In that footage she was wearing large shaped sunglasses, blue jeans and a large black cap, and was carrying a black guitar and a light coloured canvas handbag.

The investigation so far

Police Staff Investigator Joanne Wilson said: “Sadly, Holly has now been missing for three whole months.

“We have made a number of appeals over this time which have helped us piece together her last known movements and I would like to thank the public for their help so far.

“Unfortunately, we still don’t know where Holly is now. It is possible she headed for Newquay again after she left the hospital and we would ask that if anyone has any information which they haven’t already shared with us, then we’d be very grateful to hear any further detail however small.

“Holly is a confident and vivacious young woman who is a talented musician. She makes friends easily and enjoys meeting people. We know she was in the hamlet of Idles on 30th March in the early hours at 3.30am when she knocked on a door of a local property for help.

“She was cold and had no shoes on her feet. She went to Treliske Hospital at that time and thereafter her movements are unknown. We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen her on the bus leaving Treliske towards Newquay at just after 11am on 30th March.”
