Cornwall faces a hot, sunny week, with a catch on the coast

The heat is arriving, though parts of the Cornish coast may keep you waiting for it.

Cornwall is set for a run of hot and sunny weather this week, with temperatures reaching 30°C on more than one day. The forecast for South West England covers Monday 6 July to Friday 10 July and carries a simple headline: hot and sunny.

What to expect today

Patches of low cloud will linger through the morning before gradually breaking up into the afternoon. Hot sunny spells will then develop, with light winds. The one exception is the coast. Low cloud may hold on around some coastlines of Devon and Cornwall, so not everyone will see the full strength of the sun at the same time. The maximum temperature today is 30°C.

Tonight stays dry, bright and warm through the evening. Patchy low cloud may spread back in overnight and bring areas of mist. It stays dry and warm through the night, with a minimum temperature of 15°C.

Tuesday and the rest of the week

Any low cloud will gradually lift and break on Tuesday to bring another hot and sunny day with light winds. There may be some mist around Cornish coasts at times. The maximum temperature again reaches 30°C.

From Wednesday to Friday it stays dry and hot, with strong sunshine and light winds. Things turn a little less hot towards the weekend.
