Tractors and classic cars: Treviglas Academy prom in Newquay

Somewhere between the biker cavalcade and the sports cars, a tractor pulled up. Nobody was surprised.

Treviglas Academy’s Year 11 marked the end of five years of secondary school at their prom on Friday, 26 June, held at the Oceanside venue in Newquay.

The arrivals

Evening sunshine bathed the venue as families, friends and members of the local community lined the entrance to watch the students make their grand arrivals. The vehicles ran the full range. Biker cavalcades. Vintage classic cars. Sleek sports cars. And the obligatory tractor. Each arrival was met with cheers and applause.

The end of the GCSE journey

The evening marked five years of hard work, friendship and achievement. Students celebrated the end of their GCSEs before moving on to new chapters, whether college, apprenticeships, employment or, for many, Treviglas Academy Sixth Form.

Year 11 Learning Lead Mrs Ford said: “After months of dedication, resilience, and hard work, it was a real pleasure to see our Year 11 students celebrating together at prom. Seeing everyone happy, relaxed, and enjoying the evening was the perfect way to mark the end of their GCSE journey. I look forward to seeing everyone on Results Day and am especially excited to welcome many of our students back in September as they continue their journey in Sixth Form. Wishing you all a fantastic summer – you’ve earned it!”

Headteacher James Rogers welcomed every student personally as they arrived. “What an absolutely spectacular evening celebrating our incredible Year 11 students,” he said. “Once again, this year’s prom was a truly unforgettable occasion, and our students looked amazing. They conducted themselves with maturity, confidence and kindness throughout the evening, making themselves, their families and everyone at Treviglas Academy immensely proud.”

James added: “Most importantly, the evening was about celebrating everything this remarkable year group has achieved during their time at Treviglas Academy. It was wonderful to see a proud community come together to celebrate these brilliant young people. This is Newquay at its absolute best.”
