St Austell Brewery’s Secret Menu Hides a Free Pint of Korev

Pull up a bar stool, order the fish and chips, and lean in close. There’s a password, and if you know it, the next round is on the house.

St Austell Brewery is running a summer secret menu that rewards anyone in the know with a free pint of its award-winning korev lager when they order fish and chips. The offer runs until 5th September and can be claimed at any of the brewery’s 45 managed pubs across the South West.

There’s only one catch. You need to know the phrase.

How to unlock the free pint

Head to the bar, order fish and chips, and whisper “taste of the coast” to the person serving. That’s it. A perfectly chilled korev follows.

No password, no free pint. So it pays to remember the words.

Gareth James, Operations Director at St Austell Brewery, said everyone loves feeling like they have discovered something special, which is why the brewery wanted to build a fun secret menu for guests this summer.

“Nothing complements fish and chips better than a crisp pint of korev, and now anyone who knows the magic words can enjoy this classic pub pairing, topped off with a free beer,” Gareth said.

A pint that gives a little back

There’s a charitable side to the plate too. For every portion of fish and chips sold, 25p goes to Children’s Hospice South West, the St Austell Brewery Charitable Trust’s Charity of the Year.

Gareth is keen for word to travel. “We’re encouraging people to spread the secret to family and friends and make the most of a great value summer treat,” he said.

Another reason to make a night of it

The secret menu is not the only deal running. Guests who spend more than £75 in a single transaction this summer will get a voucher for 20% off their next visit, redeemable within seven days.
