What officers found in the road
Whilst out on patrol, officers encountered two youths on an illegal e-bike. The pair did not stop for a chat. But they left something behind as they went. Two caps, described by officers as rather distinctive and expensive, were sitting in the road once the riders had gone. They were the only thing officers had to scoop up.
Illegal bikes across the town
Police say they are aware of illegal e-bikes and off-road bikes being ridden across Saltash, on pavements and in and out of traffic. The message from officers is straightforward. The riders are a risk to the public and a risk to themselves.
Patrols have been increased. Officers say they will seize vehicles and bikes that are ridden anti-socially or are not legal for road use, and deal with the riders accordingly.
Come and collect them
There is a way to get the caps back. Officers have left an open invitation for the two riders, with a couple of conditions attached.
“Lads, the caps can be collected from Saltash Police Station but bring your parents and the bike so we can explain why it is illegal for road use, the nuisance you have caused and why we don’t want to be picking you up from the road.”
