Four days of oysters, 8 to 11 October

The festival runs from 8th to 11th October 2026. It is one of Cornwall’s biggest and most-loved food events, built around the native Fal Oyster and the wider spread of Cornish seafood.

Daytime is free to attend. The evenings move to ticketed entertainment, so there is a mix depending on how much you want to make of it.

What is on

Organisers are promising a programme stacked with culinary talent from across the South West. Expect live cookery demonstrations from Cornwall’s top chefs and food experts, plus food and drink experiences putting Falmouth and Cornwall’s producers, suppliers and fresh seasonal produce front and centre.

There is also an arts and craft market, more live music, and more family friendly activities than before.

And the two events that give the festival its character are back. The renowned Oyster Shucking Competition returns, along with the Working Boat race out on the water.

Why oysters, and why now

The festival is a community-led event marking the start of the oyster dredging season on the Fal estuary. It has always kept the Fal Native Oysters, and the fishermen who farm them, at the front of the celebration.

Last year brought sizzling chef demonstrations, live music, thousands of Native Fal Oysters being shucked and fizz flowing freely. The 2026 edition is being pitched as more of the same, with more ways to get involved.

More will be announced here on CornishStuff, so make sure you are signed up to our newsletter and also on the festival’s social channels over the coming months.
