Cornwall heatwave hits 33°C as coastal winds pick up
If you’re heading for the coast this weekend, keep a hand on your hat. Cornwall stays in the grip of the heatwave on Saturday with temperatures reaching 33°C. But the story that builds through the day is the wind, with a stronger breeze developing and strong gusts expected around the coast.

Saturday: hot, sunny and high UV
The dry, sunny weather holds across the South West on Saturday. It feels hot, the UV is high, and the breeze becomes more noticeable as the day goes on. Around the coast, expect strong gusts. The maximum sits at 33°C.
The heat does not drop away fully overnight. Saturday evening stays dry and warm, with a few patches of low cloud possible further east. The overnight low is 16°C.
Sunday: another very hot day with a chance of showers
Sunday brings more of the same for most. Very hot, dry and sunny, with strong sunshine and brisk winds. There is a chance of a few afternoon showers, and it stays windy around the coast. The maximum again reaches 33°C.
The week ahead
The hot, dry and sunny theme carries into the new week. Otherwise it stays largely dry and warm, though cloud increases a little on Monday and Tuesday, bringing the chance of a few showers and the odd thunderstorm.
