Bodmin Tidy it Team’s fly-tipping haul takes total to 785 bags

Three traffic cones, two bikes, two tyres, a deflated ball and part of a machine. That was some of what the Bodmin Tidy it Team came across on their latest morning out, and every bit of it had to be hauled back by hand.

Another big haul

The volunteers turned up this morning to find another large pile of dumped items waiting for them. Alongside the cones, cycles and tyres there was cardboard, plastic, wire, metal, a hoodie and part of a machine, all of it left where it should not have been.

Getting it back was a job in itself. “We would struggle without our trollies,” the team said. Trish pushed a cycle up the hill the whole way, Anne helped push a trolley from behind, and Gary pulled his own without any trouble.

785 bags and counting

The team guesstimated the morning’s total at eight bags of recycling and eight bags of rubbish. That takes their running total to 785 bags collected.

The next session is on Wednesday 2 July. Volunteers will meet at 9.45am along the lowest road of Hillside Estate, towards the end of the cul-de-sac.
