Student doctor jailed for raping two women in Truro and Torquay

A student doctor who attacked two women he had lured to a hotel room and to his own home has been jailed for 14 years. The two victims did not know each other, and their cases were separated by almost three years.

Convicted at Truro Crown Court

Chris Clark, 32, of Battersea Park Road in London, was found guilty by a jury at Truro Crown Court of two counts of rape. He returned to the court to be sentenced on Friday 17 July.

The court heard that in September 2022, Chris Clark attacked the first victim at a Travelodge where he was staying in Torquay. The 32-year-old, a student doctor, invited her to his room before raping her.

The second victim told police that in June 2025 she went to Chris Clark’s then home address in Truro. Once inside, he made sexual advances towards her, which she refused repeatedly. He raped her despite this.

“A dangerous rapist has been taken off the streets”

Detective Constable Paola Fantini, who led the case, welcomed the jury’s verdict and the sentence handed down by the court.

“Clark raped two women who were unknown to each other,” she said. “Clark is a rapist who invited women into his home and a hotel room, isolated them and carried out the offences with absolutely no regard for whether or not they consented to the act.”

Paola Fantini praised both women for coming forward and staying with the case as it moved through the courts.

“I would like to praise the victims in this case for their extraordinary bravery in reporting what happened to them, and then remaining engaged as the case progressed through the judicial system. It is thanks to them a dangerous rapist has been taken off the streets.”

She added that anyone who has experienced sexual violence should report it, whenever it happened. “You will be believed and we will investigate all matters reported to us.”
