What the council has said
Newquay Town Council confirmed the accessible toilet at Esplanade is temporarily closed after camper van waste was illegally emptied into it, causing a blockage in the drainage system.
The council stressed this is not a permanent closure. Work is underway to reopen the facility once the drains have been cleared.
An appeal to motorhome users
Alongside the notice, the council asked all motorhome and camper van users to dispose of waste responsibly and to use designated disposal points.
There was also a warning attached. Continued misuse of the facility could lead to longer-term closures, affecting those who rely on it most.
The council thanked residents and visitors for their understanding and cooperation while the drains are cleared.
