What happened
The council says the post box appears to have been struck by a vehicle, causing damage to the structure. Its Parks team removed it from the cemetery the same day. Based on what is known so far, the council believes the incident happened between 8am and 10.30am on Friday.
No further detail has been given about the vehicle involved, and the council has not said whether the damage was reported to police.
The appeal for information
Wadebridge Town Council is asking anyone who saw what happened, or who has information that could help, to get in touch. If you were passing the cemetery during that window on Friday morning, the council would like to hear from you.
What happens next
The Parks team will now assess the damage to work out what repairs are needed. The council says it will do everything it can to return the post box to the cemetery as soon as possible, and thanked the public for their understanding.
