Samme Snow’s summer residency lands at SeaSpace in Cornwall

Bring a plain T-shirt, a battered pair of trainers or just an idea, and North Cornwall’s SeaSpace will hand you a pen and point you at a wall. For two days this month the coastal lifestyle destination is turning itself into an open studio, with mural artist and illustrator Samme Snow leading the way.

The residency has been timed to mark the start of Surf & Skate Expo 2026, and it is built around getting people involved rather than watching from the side. Samme Snow is known for his playful illustrations and imaginative characters, and he will be setting up at SeaSpace so guests and visitors can drop in, pick up a pen and add something of their own.

Two days of workshops and Sip and Paint

The programme runs across two days and includes free drop-in creative workshops open to all ages. There are also dedicated Sip and Paint evening sessions for anyone who fancies a more relaxed pace with a drink in hand.

Everyone who comes along is invited to contribute to a large-scale collaborative artwork inspired by Cornwall’s coastline and the social atmosphere that runs through SeaSpace. Families, friends, surfers, creatives and the plain curious are all part of the plan, which is broadly the point of the place.

Surfboards, skate decks and a good cause

The residency has picked up some help from local partners. The Wave Project has donated surfboards and TR7 has provided skate decks for Samme to cover in his signature artwork.

One of the finished surfboards will go back to The Wave Project to support its fundraising. The charity uses surfing to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people, and the money raised helps it keep that work going.

Bring something to customise

If you would rather take something home, you are encouraged to bring your own T-shirt, hat or trainers along for Samme to customise with his illustrations.
